On May 11, 2026, the “Thuringia Biodiversity Alliance” was founded at Andritz Schuler Pressen GmbH in Erfurt, in the presence of Thuringian Environment Minister Tilo Kummer.
Stahlwerk Thüringen GmbH was one of the founding members of the alliance and was represented at this event by Mr. Marcel Michele-Naussed and Dr. Bernd Kalinowski from the Environmental Department. The thematic priorities of the alliance include raw material security, climate adaptation through biodiversity on the company premises, and practice-oriented biodiversity reporting. Biodiversity is the basis of all life on our planet – regardless of how diverse the life forms are.
It is scientifically recognized that species-rich ecosystems are more stable and, for example, cope better with climate change. In addition, a nature that is as diverse as possible can provide better and more reliable “environmental services” such as pollination and the decomposition of animal and plant waste products.
Thus, it ensures healthy forests, healthy soils, and clean water. Through our membership, we hope to gain new ideas and impetus for our diverse activities in this area.
