In addition to producing green steel, our company is involved in various environmental protection projects in our region. These include, among other things, participation in reforestation campaigns, the conversion of a 500 m² monotonous grass area into a colourful insect habitat with butterfly and wildflower margins, shrub islands with native bushes, suitable nesting habitats, and the creation of a sandarium for wild bees.
“Bees and other pollinating insects are of great importance for our agriculture. It is therefore all the more important that people—also without an occupational or professional background—work to preserve their habitats and create new ones,” said State Secretary Marcus Malsch at the award ceremony for the winners.
Among the 30 award recipients were four private individuals, nine daycare centres, seven schools, five associations, two towns and municipalities, as well as two companies and one cooperative.
