Regional Commitment

Steel that bears regional responsibility.

Social commitment stems from our roots.

As Stahlwerk Thüringen, we are one of the largest industrial companies in the Saalfeld-Rudolstadt district. Therefore, sustainable commitment to society, especially to the people around our Unterwellenborn site, is a matter of course for us.

With this conviction, we support many cultural, sports, ecclesiastical-religious, scientific, and charitable institutions. These include, for example:

Sports Sponsoring with Heart

Sport unites – and starts with youth.

As the main sponsor of the traditional SV Stahl Unterwellenborn e.V., we specifically support children’s and youth sports, especially the successful archery section, which has already achieved national and international successes.

In addition, we support many sports clubs in the region, because exercise, community and fairness are values that also characterize our company.

Education & Youth Development

We support schools and kindergartens in our area, e.g., in designing play and recreational areas.

Additionally, we are involved in career orientation, offer applicant training, and specifically prepare students for the professional world.

Wir unterstützen Schulen und Kindergärten in unserer Umgebung – z. B. bei der Gestaltung von Spiel- und Freizeitbereichen.

Maxhütte Art Collection

The “Maxhütte Art Collection” comprises around 280 works of painting and graphic art by 51 artists. It is dedicated to the artistic examination of the world of work and is closely linked to the history of the site.

Although the collection has been owned by the Free State of Thuringia since 1995, as a company, we continue to promote its preservation and expansion – for example, through the acquisition of new works, loans for exhibitions, or presentations within our company premises.

Support for the Saalebogen Hospice

The Hospiz am Saalebogen in Saalfeld, which opened in 2021, is particularly close to our hearts.
With our donation, we were able to make a lovingly designed room possible: the “Glück auf” room, named after the traditional greeting of miners and metallurgists.

Decorated in warm colors, barrier-free, and featuring works by Saalfeld artist Carlo Hirschel, it offers those affected a dignified retreat.
